ADVERSITY OF BRAIN INJURY

 Adversity of brain injury:

So many gorgeous women  come out of Slovenia. The most recent  Miss Slovenia, my heart goes out to her. So close, but not meant to be!

The Miss Universe title can do a lot for a girl; There are endorsements, travel, modeling contracts and much more!  One could say “Winning Miss Universe may  mean that ,  a girl could be set for life!” One Thing for certain is that Miss Universe will be sure to be a great public speaker, given the fact that she will have to do so in many places at many events.

My heart shuddered when I saw Miss Slovenia walk across the stage and smile on one side of her face only. I think that I am one who can really relate, and I did shed a tear  at her new.found fate.  I was a teenager of 17 years,  when a I won a best legs contest,  in Vancouver BC.  if my memory serves me correctly it was held at the P.N.E.   I was offered modeling contracts and magazine covers but just like Miss Slovenia it was not meant to be.

I woke, not certain how much later,  none the less,  I found myself terrified unable to move or speak.  Although I    could hear and understand what was being said. I didn’t know at the time that the entire left side of my body was paralyzed, forever after I would be called a hemiplegic.

I’m not sure in  Miss Slovenia’s  case, if she also suffered a stroke, Bell’s palsy or something else entirely.  I do know that crooked smile because I wore it upon my face for many years.  fortunately I had an Auntie named  Ella; who really  cared about me.  she was one of only three persons who came to the hospital to see me in my saddened and pitiful state.  she had done some query on paralysis and the theory of shocking of nerves back into registering to the brain. Through massage along with extreme hot and cold temperatures.

Auntie Ella brought me a face massage kit and hot and  cold face packs. We alternated between them all day long. Then the face massage, and endless hours of audibles from Aum’s to Mum’s… I believe this is what brought my speech and facial nerves back to me. Thank God for Auntie Ella! She Loved me!

I’m hoping Miss Slovenia learn of this method so that she can get her face back to normal asap.

MY Red dress , before stroke, 1974 or 1975?                                 Where does the time go?
